The intention of writing a love letter is to express your innermost feelings for another person. Often expressing thoughts and feelings that are not easily express in person. Can it be said that love and romance ever be completed without love letters? I don’t think so because love requires communication. It demands the expression of one’s heart in both action and words. I have heard it said that the greatest love letter was the Bible because it brought forth the greatest love from God towards us of His creation. 

Was the need to communicate love behind Valentine’s Day?

Perhaps this is exactly why the celebration of Valentine’s Day started in 496 AD with the exchange of love letters between the couples. Since that time, the exchange of love notes and letters have flown through from the hearts of countless friends and lovers who have understand the need to express the heart’s feelings. Could it not be said that this tradition supports the idea that there is no greater force than love? I believe so. Valentine’s Day itself is celebrated in many different ways and in many different places. Its interesting to note that Valentine’s Day mark the biggest shopping day of the year in terms of chocolate and flowers. On the occasion of Valentine’s Day or any other day, a love letter written by your sweetheart can overwhelm you. 

Love letters can be tools in your relationship

Couples are able to testify that writing each other love letters over the years have enhance their relationship, sometimes dramatically. But it seem that others, even though understanding the power of love communication prevent themselves from taking action because of their insecurities of their writing ability. Traditionally, love letters were also scent with user’s perfume. Scent love letters usually relate to a particular scent which is associated with the person. I have received them adorned in flowers, others in colored print and yet others in plain print and plain blocked letters. The decorative and dramatic or the playful and silly are good and the simple plain is always better than nothing. Each is fine to me, but no letter, no sentiment and no communication, that is not good. If we do not know, then we should be told that open hatred is far better than secret love.
