Are You Using Letters Or the Internet?
The increasing demands for the mere survival in the world are it pursuant of higher education or having to work overseas; inevitably pulling people away from their loved ones. Unfortunately, face-to-face “real” communications will have to be substituted by emails and other networking tools such as MSN Messenger. Because of this loss of real interactions, most people feel that their relationships are not as before.
With the advent of email systems, most people keep in touch by writing emails. It is very fast, very efficient and very easy to type. However, this still cannot be win the sincerity required to write a paper-and-paper hand-written letter. Yes, many people do not write such letters today, but this will save you from just being another face and name.
People understand that the writer would have to sit down and painstakingly write the letter in the midst of their business, penning down all their thought and emotions. Perhaps, we have all forgotten the letter exists in physical form. The receiver would be able to touch the letter, look at it as much times, as they would like to, without straining the eyes as much as they would if they looked at an email. This is something that emails cannot imitate.
There are limitations though. Letters cannot be as frequent as emails, so you might have to writ your contents down and then save them until you feel that you have written enough to be sent. The delivery of letters is also slow, and you would have to wait for a long time for a reply. But that is all right, there is nothing better than a lonely person receiving a hand-written letter from loved ones.
Perhaps if a letter alone cannot satisfy you, then use a combination of letters, emails, and instant messaging. That way, you can be sure that your communications will reach your loved ones in more ways than one.
